The idea behind this animation was to create something that would explain a scientific concept in under two minutes. I decided to create a quick animation about the Earth revolving around the Sun and explain why we have leap years. I had never animated anything before and this was a very long and arduous project that, now that I am finished with it, has me wanting to try it again.
Here is how I created it:
1. Downloaded vector images of earth, sun, calendar, and arrow.
2. Cleared back ground of said images using Illustrator.
3. Created narration using pro tools and exported as .wav
4. Aligned earth and sun on canvas. I had to create a copy of the sun and moved it above the earth layer so that the earth appears to move behind the sun. The order you have your layers effects how the images are seen.
5. I created a spinning earth by going into the layer properties and using rotate.
6. Used classic tweening on the earth to get it to orbit the sun.
7. Created text in its own layer to have it fade in and out as it matches up with the narration.
8. Set calendar and used classic tweening to have arrow around move around it.
9. Swivel did not work on my computer (swivel needs to be updated) so I used Media Encoder to convert .swf file to mp4.
